A long time ago, I used to write blogs

Alright guys. I had a hard time writing this post. Or, rather, I had a hard time not writing this post. There is much to like about my latest head to toe thrift-ensemble. I like that I got this Liz Claiborne 100% silk emerald blouse for $4. I like that I got a chance to wear my silver pleated skirt again. I even like that cheap little $0.99 belt that pulls it all together. I like the colourful wall where Yen and I took these photos. I like the crispy chocolate cookies we had later. But can I write a whole post on crispy chocolate cookies? Well, I probably could, seeing as I wrote a whole post on icecream once, but the world isn’t ready for Cookie: The Sequel.

Truth be told, all I really want to write about is Veronica Mars. Since the Kickstarter/movie news blew up on Twitter last week, I decided it was finally time to hop on that bandwagon, and ride it all the way to the fictional town of Neptune. I’m now ten episodes into season one, and all I want to talk about how GREAT it is: How bad-ass Veronica is. How clever and sharp and sassy she is. How awesome her dad is. How “2004” a Paris Hilton cameo is. How annoying Logan is and how lovable and tortured he’ll someday be. But tying that in to my new green blouse? A bit of a stretch.

I mean, if I were to try to and write some parallels between me and Veronica, I might point out that we’re both blonde, that we both like big cameras, and that we both hang around graffiti-filled walls talking pictures. Sure, she’s talking them for sleuthing purposes, and I’m talking them for a blog, but same diff, really. We also both dressed the same in high school and were big into the Postal Service, but…

…Yep. It’s definitely bit of a stretch. Instead, I’m going to keep this nice and tidy and save my Veronica Mars essay for another day, and maybe another blog. I wore this shirt on St. Patrick’s Day. It’s green like a leprechaun. I like dressing for holidays. Case closed.

I’ll see you creeps after episodes 10-22!

Veronica Mars is awesome! Glad you decided to watch it. I just bought it on DVD from Amazon so I could watch it again. I’m excited!

OH MY GOODNESS JULIE! When I saw the title for this blog post I thought instantly of “We Used to Be Friends” and thought that maybe you would mention Veronica Mars on here AND I WAS RIGHT! You have no idea how avid/crazy/emotionally involved with VM that I am- I cried when it was canceled because it was (and still is!) my favourite show. And then I nearly cried when I heard of the kickstarter, and that indeed, 6 years later, we are going to get a VM movie, and that this campaign broke records! I can’t believe that 6 years ago, our campaigns didn’t get us a movie, and now so much time has passed and it’s going to finally happen! I was so flipping excited to put in my pledge and support the movie…I can’t even put it into words how over the moon happy I am, and to hear that other people are finally checking it out makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside!

And now to end my rant- that is one cute blouse!

Ahhh I TOTALLY GET IT! I have shed many’a tear over TV shows cancelled well before their time. And now that I’m actually versed in VM, I get it all the more. I’m sure you cried sweet tears of joy about the movie!

I absolutely love this outfit. I think it might be my favorite one you have posted, but then, green is my favorite color so I am partial,

Cute outfit! Love the last photo with the skirt billowing in the wind! And now you have me curious about Veronica Mars….heading for my kindle to check it out right now…

Thank you! I’ll admit, that skirt was a little dangerous on a windy day. Luckily, no inappropriate incidents occurred 😉

I just finished rewatching all VM seasons…it was great, what a great show:) Addicting as all get out.

I, too, had “We Used to be Friends” stuck in my head while reading this. I LOVED Veronica Mars, and I also started a rewatch when they announced the kickstarter…. though I must have substantially less of a life than you, because I am 17 episodes in (and dammit I love EVERY second of it!!!). I am mildly obsessed. It’s finally getting to the “Logan-Isn’t-Such-A-Total-Jerkoff” episodes, and seriously, it’s about time. This is my first time rewatching the series, and you kind of forget what a complete jackass he is at the start of it. Such an awesome show. And such an awesome outfit. See? They do go together.

Honestly, the people like you are why I wanted to watch it so bad! Mildly obsessed people have the best taste in TV. It isn’t good unless you go a little nuts about it.

You looked so festive! I have to admit, I wore black and ate French food on St. Patrick’s Day. Shameful I know. So lovely to see another totally thrifted outfit, and you’re convincing me to get back out there and thrift shop once more. Not that I need convincing.

A lovely outfit, I love your green blouse and pleated skirt is beautiful. Also very nice your necklace. I find it a fantastic look.

Another huge fan of Veronica Mars here! Although season 1 is the best, I’m excited by the prospect of a movie.

Julie Van Huizen March 25, 2013 at 4:36 pm

I bet! I am watching it with a group of 3 others, so I have to wait patiently as we all have time to watch. It’s painful!

You are so hilarious and thrifty and you love Veronica Mars. All of these things make me supremely happy.

Your posts always make me smile. Now my question is… if you’re like Veronica Mars, can we get you and Yen a Kickstarter for your own movie? I’m thinking it will be like Charlie’s Angels with billowy hair and vintage clothes.

First of all, I love this look. I have an almost identical skirt that I paid WAY too much for at American Apparel over a year ago, jealous of your price tag. Secondly, I LOVE Veronica Mars. I’ve always wanted to be a snarky teen detective and that show is so good. I want to re-watch but they just refuse to stream it on Netflix…

I was so very angry it wasn’t on Netflix! That said, the video store I ended up at was totally charming. Silver lining!
